THIS IS NOT A FAKE!!!!!!!
There is a mass virus hack on MSN messenger. A random contact(s) will pop up with the message "ahha is this you? hi5.randomlink.com/your_email.something"
DO NOT CLICK THE LINK!!! It will put 20+ viruses on your computer.
BUT BE WARNED!!!!!!!! This does not prevent it! The virus will still infect your messenger whether or not you click the link. It will open ALL of your contacts, sending them the message, then shuts down your messenger. Depending on how weak your security is, it will shut down your computer. You must:
1. Shut down MSN messenger. If you cannot because of the popage, hit Ctrl+Alt+Delete and task manager should pop up. Click on either applications or processes, then MSN messenger. End process, then hit yes on the pop up. This will cancel all MSN processes at the time.(Not Messenger Plus! that is not a part of the original MSN messenger download)
2. Open your virus scan and delete all malevolent things detected. You may also want to right-click on your IE/FireFox, then hit internet properties, then click on "Delete history/cookies/temporary files" This will erase all data from the internet saved on your computer. THIS DOES NOT INCLUDE favorites, photos, etc. It only includes passwords, sites visited, etc.
3. Change your MSN password.
4. (optional) Restart your computer. Run virus scan again.
None of this is guaranteed to work simply because your friends may accidently send you the virus again. I myself am not getting on again until at the least 5 o'clock tomorrow unless I hear from people it is still going around.
